There's a yes and a no here....

My wife is my partner, my lover, my best drinking buddy, and my best friend all rolled into one. I like it this way...if feels sooooo good. There is a down side to that though and it's where I will agree some. My wife and I are separated and it leaves me with no support structure or friends to lean on. There is no one close enough to me other then her that I wish to talk to.

Granted, this situation is not the norm, but it can happen. We are working to get back together, and we will. In the mean time it's a pretty lonely world if you don't have other good friends.

I strongly disagree with that statement, if your spouse isn't your "best friend" that can lead to all sorts of problems and mistrust. Who should you share your deepest secrets with if not your best friend? Who should help pick you up when you are down if not your best friend? Who should be there to lend a helping hand when needed if not your best friend? Who should you want to spend most of your free time with if not your best friend? I am deeply sorry for you if your spouse is not your best friend as my spouse is my best friend no matter what problems may arise!!!!

If you treat your spouse also as a best friend, married life will be less boring. Both of you will constantly engaged in conversations over all kinds of things. This is healthy in a marriage.

If married couples slowly has less things to talk and to the extent ..none at all except essential household matters ..the marriage will not be a happy one.

My spouse is my best friend. Cause I know that no matter what happens in life he always has my back. I also have a woman that is my female best friend. Sometimes us girls need to confide in our (female) best friend instead of our significant other. Not sure why, its just a girl thing!!!

How could your spouse not be your best friend?

No I don't agree. My husband is my bestfriend and only bestfriend. Every friend/bestfriend I have ever had in my life has screwed me over in some way. My husband will never do that. I can talk to him about everything and anything. I can trust him with anything and everything. And that's all I need. I have friends, but they don't know anything they can use against me.
