I've heard this song on the radio a couple times and just saw the video on VH1. What's the song about?

I watched a short film clip of the band discussing the meaning of the Over My Head. It is about the relationship between two brothers and they were fighting and almost came to hating each other, then realizing how important your family truly is and learning from that. I honestly believe that you could adapt it to many situations in life.

The song title is a reference to the lead singer s younger brother, Caleb Slade (nicknamed "Cable-Car"), who started out playing bass guitar for the band, but was later asked to leave because he wasn t good enough. And that is where the title of the song comes from because everyone in the band knew that Caleb was "In Over His Head".

But it was due to the tension between the brothers, created by Caleb getting kicked out of the band, that lead to the Fray s first hit single. It is sung from Caleb s point of view with a sense of betrayal, feelings of not being good enough, and fake friends who are waiting on a cue to toward away from you.
