Could anyone tell me exactly how Clomid works? Also, confirm to me that this is a perscription obtained from a doctor. I thought I ran across a thread that stated there was an over the counter medication great for infertility. Anyone know about this? Thank you!

Clomid makes you ovulate...you can google clomid, and get a lot ofinformation. You take it on day 5-9 of your cycle. Your Dr starts you out on a 50mg dose (the smallest) and monitors you closely. You then go for a blood test on the 21st day of your cycle for a blood test to see if yu ovulated. If you did...then you take another cycle if you did...of if you didn't they will up the dose. You do run the risk of a multiple birth (it can make your body release more than one egg)

Clomid induces ovulation by fooling your body into believing it has less estrogen than it actually does. You do need a prescription from a doctor for this medication.

Clomid is prescription only. It is an anti-estrogen, it basically tricks your body into thinking you haven't produced enough estrogen so you pump out extra, it increses egg quality and usually egg amounts.
