"Dune"(1984): Directed by David Lynch. Based on the popular and brilliant novel by Frank Herbert, Dune has Arabic and Islamic connotations throughout both the novel and movie. Though the novel was written by an American, Frank Herbert did extensive study on both Arabic and Islamic culture to give a sense of realism to the novel. The movie version is fairly faithful to the Herbert's Dune. You can purchase the DVD on-line through Amazon or through one of the video rental chains. The movie is worth watching, but the the novel, which is the first in a series by Frank Herbert, is definitely a must read for any sci fi fan. The Sci Fi channel, in 2000, made a three part mini-series based on Frank Herbert's Dune.

Background of Dune:
"The year is 10191. The known universe is ruled by the Padishah Emperor Shaddam the Fourth. In this time, the most precious substance in the universe is the spice Melange. The spice extends life. The spice expands consciousness. The spice is vital to space travel. The Spacing Guild and its navigators, who the spice has mutated over 4000 years, use the orange spice gas, which gives them the ability to fold space. That is, travel to any part of the universe without moving. The spice exists on only one planet in the entire universe. A desolate, dry planet with vast deserts. Hidden away within the rocks of these deserts are a people known as the Fremen, who have long held a prophecy that a man would come, a messiah or Mahdi, who would lead them to true freedom. The planet is Arrakis, also known as Dune."

Yeah, there's this one, where they discover a planet... where they have intelligent life, and they discover these beings seemingly lived in peace for tens of thousands of years, without war... and they never heard of Allah, so they have a Jihad, and kill all of the evil intelligent life on that planet!
