as far as canadian fans go the habitants have the best fans. however edmonton gained more fans this season with them making it to the finals. the habitants hold the most stanley cup titles with 24. no other team can brag about that. toronto has 13 and detroit has 10. the habitants have a great history. there will never be a more winning franchise title-wise.

And your point is......The Islanders and Oilers have won more cups than Montreal since the end of the 70's. If the Nordiques hadn't moved to Colorado, Montreal wouldn't even be the best team in the province. Religon? Your captain would be a second line player at best on most teams. Amen.. As far as fans go, Leaf fans still cheer for losing teams, can't say that in Montreal(remember Roy's exit or the Expos), so brag if you like Habs fans, but see how hard you cheer for your team after they've gone 40 years and counting between cups. That's a true test of fans. I will concede history but to say Montreal is hockey and only use Toronto as an example only means that you haven't been to a minor hockey game in the Maritimes during a snowstorm or the praries at -40.

The best fans? Maybe in Montreal but the Habs fans I grew up with were obnoxious boors. Make Belief fans were just a joke.
As far as the NHL now, did you not watch the playoffs? Oilers' fans were amazing and they turned their rink into the Chicago Stadium with their anthem singing. I'd vote the most loyal and raucous crowds are in Edmonton now.
The best fans ever were the California Golden Seals' loyal fans. Before you laugh, they may have been small in number but they made NOISE! It's where I first encountered Krazy George and they blew my mind when I saw a game in Oakland and when they came up to Vancouver. Think Blackhawks fans during the anthem in the old Chicago Stadium days...only just not enough of them.

That's funny, I thought the Carolina Hurricanes were Stanley Cup champions. You sound like Les Habs have accomplished something.

You know, Montreal and Leaf fans are always going on about how great their teams are and no team can EVER be as great as they are. Gee, when was the last time they won a Cup? 'Nuff said.

You are entitled to your opinion and I am entitled to mine. I'm an Edmonton and TORONTO fan. I can't stand watching Montreal, but I'll watch them any day over Detroit

When will Montreal fans realize the just because they won a bunch of cups 20+ years ago, that doesn't make the team they have now good. And besides, everyone in the NHL has to bow down to Hockeytown, Michigan. Oh wait, I mean Detroit, Michigan. STEVIE Y FOREVER!!!!!!!!!

The Habs couldn't hold the Sabres jock strap, and the Pittsburgh Penguins have a more promising future in the East, give me a break, and those ugly uniforms and logo, tradition is overrated, obviously it doesn't win cups.

When will you realize that they are the past?
Hold on to the past glory, I look at that team and see small, soft and questionable goaltending.
Their key off-season signing is Samsonov, well known for his ability to avoid the corners.
