Why would the authors let people breach copyright be reading things for free when they can still charge?

It's a wonderful website and you can browse through many titles, including really old out of print books, not just newer ones.

Some of the novels are in www.sparknotes.com, which includes summaries and stuff. Another good one to try is www.gutenberg.org.
