Shaving the face has been around a long time. Although most people claim they did it for fashion or to look younger (both true to a degree), in early times the main reason was lice.
The Romans in Rome (the city) took to shaving practically all body hair and wearing wigs instead of natural hair because Rome was literally crawling with lice (which frequently lay their eggs in feces, which (despite a primitive sewer system), Rome had quite a lot of.

well from what i learned.. The Romans shaved their face, to show they were greater than their servants. They kept greek servants who kept facial hair because of religious reasons.
But i'm sure that shaving must have been done much earlier than ancient rome and greece

It must have had something to do with women I'm sure. Who ever it was though damn him to hell. Ever since he started the women have been asking for more and more of it all the time. Get rid of the hair on your back! Get rid of the hair on your azz! That's not getting anywhere near my mouth until it's shaved! Jeesh, I do have baths!

I don't know who the first guy was to do it but without modern razors and shaving cream he clearly had a good reason to do it. Wild guess would be a woman had something to do with it.

i have no idea but dont u think its strange that tarzan cant find any clothes to wear but can shave his face?

it was probably a pre-historic man who did it for shamanistic purposes, with a very sharp piece of flint, way back when life had meaning to people.
