i assume that all of your questions are regarding bettas...
bettas, especially the males, are territorial and very agressive. males CANNOT live with other males or females. Females can only live with other females if they have a lot of space (10 gallons or larger).
if your bettas are living in bowls, they should ALWAYS live alone. there is not enough space for a second fish, even if it is something other than a betta that won't fight with them.
Don't ever attempt to mate bettas in such a tiny space.

Hello :
I myself once made the mistake of "tanking up" or "bowling up" fish... I regret now what I once did... I have BAD DREAMS over it..... instead of dealing with animal exploitation why not try getting involved with plants. Or there are those neat "water toys" (the wind up ones, or electric ones). I hear that there are going to be little micro remote control devices coming out. Even simple rock gardens and water-falls can be fun.
Hope in awareness and understanding for great change.
