and also if you do use itunes what options are there for selecting what goes on to the shuffle?

nope... any software that can encode mp3 files will work...you can even use windows media player- just change settings and away you go...

There are one or two other programs that can do this. Winamp and Real Player. I couldn't do it with Real player so dry downloading WinAmp. I don't like iTunes too.

Yes, and there are options where you can check off what songs you want to go onto your suffle and which ones you just want to keep on itunes.

Umm... no I dont think so... It should appear in your "my computer" as a removable drive...
