Well, paranoia indeed is a symptom, what you can diganose is a paranoid schizophrenia (psychotic) or a paranoid personality disorder (non-pyschotic).

Paranoia is not an illness, it is a symptom. Paranoia can be a symptom of a deep psychological problem, such as schizophrenia, or it can be a result of drug use, or it can simply be a temporary reaction that a normal brain has to a scary situation.

yes there is a medical diagnosis for paranoia. I have been in the medical field for 10 years. It is a pretty non-specific diagnosis, but it is there.
