I think is imposible to play online the sims 2.
The online sims game with online is the sims online:

But you need to pay 10 dolars monthly.
The sims 2 has better graphics and a better simulator but this one has more things and you can make your own restaurant or things like that and you can work!, you go with your sim to your job.

Sims Online is a different game for people who like to involve real people in real time.

I agree with Carlos, that there is no comparison to the PC Sims 2 and in a few months, it is cheaper to play the PC version if your system is up to the game.
