The only open democracy in the Middle East is Israel. Foreign policy aside, the Israelis enjoy the highest standards of living and most freedoms of anywhere in the region.
Democracy is always better when its fully developed. A transitional democracy like Iraq is arguably worse than a monarchy. Depending, of course, on the monarch.

Democracy is the only way to more peaceful Middle east but Israel can not live in a democratic Middle East. The Palestinian have had the most democratic election ever in the M.E which ended up with Hamas in power to Israel this kind of democracy is DANGEROUS.

The most dangerous -as we are seeing daily- is a Puppet Democracy installed by America for American Corporate interests that will further erode Iraq and the surrounding area into a larger scale war.
