try going to camera and hit "options" and go to "settings" or something like that -- this enables you to change the "shutter sound" -- some phones let you change it, but doesn't have the "mute" button (like samsung). but other phones let you take pictures quietly

The usual way is to just actually put your phone on silent. If you this doesnt work most probably your phone's camera sound cant be silent for some reason. You may want to ask the person who sold it to you for more information about this.
