The only times I have found them rude is when people who speak another language other than French (particularly english speakers) go to Paris or france and immediately speak to staff at restaurants/hotels/stores and speak to them in English (or the non-french lanugage), expecting their response in english as well. I find that if you go there and don't speak french, and ask them politely if they speak english, they are more than happy to converse with you and are not rude in the slightest. It is just common courtesy at the end of the day though isn't it and would happen in the same instance if a French person went to an english speaking country and expected people over there to speak French to them.

I am always amazed how, since the French have such a reputation for rudeness, people automatically assume they are rude. This is like saying everyone from Texas is a cowboy who wears ten-gallon hats and boots, rides horses and lives in the middle of nowhere with cactus and tumbleweeds - which I am living proof that that is not true! I think everyone should be given a chance before they are automatically lumped into a cliche.....go to Paris and check it out!

No. I found the Parisian's very polite.

I think your question is redundant.
