When I was growing up I lived in mortal fear of my belly button, and would unsure that I never ever touched it. Aside from my dislike of fluff, this was mainly due to the fact that my parents told me that if I was to unscrew it then my bum would fall off! As the years have gone by I had started to doubt this little fact, and put it down to my parents weird sense of humour. However I have recently been told of a girl (a friend of a friend type thing) who actually unscrewed her belly button and had to re-attach her bum using gaffer tape! Is this possible? Or am I safe to play with my belly button?

No. it's true! The same as if you watch too much TV you'll get square eyes, and if you pull a face and the wind changes, you'll stay like that!

It's true, but gaffer tape is only a short term solution.

You need industrial strength wood glue, and this only last 5 to 10 years.

Get out and buy some, you don't want your **** falling off in the middle of a shop, or you might leave it on a bus, imagine phoning the bus station asking for an **** in lost & found, also they only keep lost property for a few months, so you **** could end up in the bin, if you don't claim it.

Ah....now. If you hold your bum and unscrew your belly button at the same time, if your bum DID fall off, you can hold it in place and quickly rescrew the belly button back in place! No harm done.

I found this out accidentally when I was unscrewing my belly button and had an itch in my left bum cheek. Play carefully now, bumless boys arent good.

P.S Love how you can tell who the Brits are on htis page.....

The fact is.... this phenomena only occurs if you have a silver bellybutton with a slot in it, AND, a shaft of moonlight casts itself on your belly button during the night, and a mischievous fairy slides down the moonbeam and unscrews your bellybutton. Then of course, when you get out of bed in the morning, your bum would drop off. If not silver, you will be ok, trust me.

My parents told me the same thing (along with if you ate apple pips a tree would grow out of your bum)! Luckily, I have been blessed with a fair amount of common sense and it kicked in when I was about 8 years old.

So yes, you are fine to play with your belly button, so long as you keep it clean.

I love this.Yes as you know you are perfectly safe to unscrew your belly button any time you like.If you are serious(just in case). There is no way you can unscrew your belly button and your friend was cruel telling you this girl that did it lie.
If it is a joke I wish I had thought of it first. Its going top of my list for funny questions.Brilliance absolute magic.

No it's not possible to re-attach a bum using only gaffer tape. Surgeons prefer to use medical grade cyanoacrylate adhesive these days for this type of delicate procedure which is more common than you might imagine. It also happened to a friend of mine.

Your friends bottom was probably the old screw fit type, most bottoms these days are held in place with a simple spring loaded bayonet fixing. To completely remove your bottom you need to push it in and twist it.
Your belly button is only used to adjust the tension of the spring, playing with it could cause your bum to be loose and flap about, but it wont fall off.

From what I understand, you cannot "unscrew" a belly button. It is a scar left over from when they cut your umbilical cord. I'm pretty sure you are safe to play with it if you like. You can learn a lot more about the navel area in this wikipedia article: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Belly_button

What's more important is that girls have to cover the Belly button with a large postage stamp to avoid getting pregnant as it stops the male's sperm from breathing.
