Assuming she is washed with soap every time she pees or more than once a day... According to my friendly pediatrician, the vagina shouldn't be washed with soap too often. During the day, it should be enough to rinse with water then dab dry. Over washing causes dryness of the affected area which may result to itchiness "down there." But to be sure, you should really take her to her pediatrician to make sure that UTI (urinary tract infection) or any other conditions are causing it.

My daughter suffers from this too! Once I made sure her hygiene standards were appropriate I worked out it was caused by her vagina being dry. Now as soon as she starts to scratch I give her her special cream (bit of KY jelly). It's relieved before she scratches herself too much and irritates the skin. Good luck!

just cause her vagina is itchy doesn't mean she is being abused, she might have a yeast infection, wearing a wet bathing suit can cause them in young girls. take her to the doctor,

Only give her mild soap to wash with.

*when I was 5 I started washing myself and I didn't rise good enough. therefore I got an itchy burney crotch. vasiline on her labia (inner lips) will sooth her irritation. from now on remind her to scrub and rise better*

If none of that helps it is time to see a doctor.

She is having a yeast or cleansing problem. Cut back on sugars and make sure she is wiping herself properly especially after going #2.

It's probably just a yeast infection. If it continues, take her to the doctor. It's not uncommon.
