Santa Claus was based on St. Nicholas, a young bishop who supported the needy. He would wear red & white bishop robes and ride a donkey, handing out gifts to children. Dutch colonists took the tradition to NY in 17th century. A popular author Washington Irving gave Americans first detailed info. about the dutch version. The first Dutch-American St. Nick became fully Americanized in 1823 by the poem The Night Before Christmas.

First of all, it's Santa Claus (no e) Second, you can find a lot of info on the history of Santa, where he originated and how he is celebrated today and why...even in the encyclopedia(if anyone uses them anymore), you'll be suprised! Better to know all of your information, even if you have your own beliefs before being ignorant.

as quickly as there a guy who used to assist out the undesirable for the period of Christmas time, he gave money and provides away. This guy at last grew to grow to be Saint Nickolas, so quite a few years later mothers and fathers might tell their teenagers that Santa might convey them toys in the event that they have been good. that's the way it began.

You must be kidding me.

For all these years , I have thought he was real , and have always worshipped him , as my hero.

I think Im going to have to speak to my parents, and just find out what is going on. I dont beleive you can say his not real , Who else would go giving me a carrot and a glass of water one day a year , for the past 5 years lol
