Best place west off mid Madagascar .
Worst place was in the Seychelles. Spent 10 days there diving with the locals at the "best "spots. Very dissapointed by the distruction and global warming. Hardly any coral left.

Philippines - ok, I haven't been to some of the more "popular" diving sites in the world (Red Sea, Barrier Reef, etc). But the price of everything in the Philippines, the service you get, makes it a great place all round. Beer can be had for GBP0.30 a bottle (about US$0.50), a decent meal for a couple of pounds, cocktails for about 3 pounds, and women for... wasn't allowed to, but not much apparently!

The two best places I've been have been Dahab in Egypt and Rabaul in Papua New Guinea - it's a little hard to get to but once you're there you'll have the best diving experience of your life and there'll be hardly any other divers there. As well as the great diving there is amazing scenery and a volcano that is constantly going off (don't worry, it's a safe distance away)

My favourite places were the 4 or 5 islands in the Maldives where I went. More variety there than the Great Barrier Reef, Bora Bora or Antigua, imho. However, I haven't been to the Red Sea (yet!).

Guam, in the South Pacific, pure clear waters. get to dive around world war two wreckages. no crowds and the ability to dive anywhere, at any time.
