OK folks this is a real long shot but there's a DnB tune which is probably late 90s - it samples the very distinctive orchestral stabs from David Bowie's "Let's Dance" (the jangly riff which starts when Bowie says the word "dance"). I don't think it uses any other elements (vocals or bass) from the Bowie track.

I'm not sure it ever became very popular but has a very special huge, floaty feel to it, really nice progressive drums and sweet, tidy bass.

I think I had it on a retrospective CD from some label like Moving Shadow or Gas or something like that. The only other time I've heard it was on a white label in an East London club.

I would ideally like a full artist and track name, and a link to where I can buy it or download it, but failing that, any information that may get me closer to identifying this truly unique track would be EXTREMELY gratefully received.

Thanks in advance

KaiBosh

There's various remixes of "Let's Dance" at Hard To Find Records, based in Birmingham, htfr.com : not sure if any are drumnbass tho.

Have a look at this link:

The sound module Proteus 2000 has a lot of orcrhestral hits in it that could get you real close. Also try horn hits. http://americanmusical.com

I don't know, but it sounds bloody awful. Try listening to some decent music for a change.
