Vaccum action is created by air pressure in an atmospheric environment. That is also the reason for wind. It is to balance the air density. In space, everywehere is empty, it can be pretty much balance.

When it come to big body like stars and planet, the so call pit should be the space-time warp created by mass. The bigger the mass, the more severe warpping there is.

Earth and sun has it own "pit". They are pulling on each other toward each other. But there are also momemtum and initia that keep each other from colliding.

Both Earth and the Solar System are falling. I don't know where they are going, but it larger than a 'pit.'

:-D Outerspace is vacuum, but not empty!

Because there is no 'down' in space. There is only 'down' in a gravity well and the majority of spacetime is asymptotically flat, or near enough to it. There is no 'pit' as you put it.

first of all, earth and the other planets are each on their own axis. second of all, the solar system in one of many in the milky way. it won't get sucked in because of that. i dont' know much, but i do know that things are they way they are for a reason.

We're are traveling within it. We started from the center (BIG BANG!!!!) and our galaxy is shooting towards the outer rim. Boldly going where no man has gone before.
