I raised all of my children on whole or canned milk with dark kayro syrup(that's to keep them from getting constipated)It never hurt mine or the children from generations before formula was invented. If the baby is on a soy formula then i say no milk.Otherwise milk a little watered down is fine. You can also try warm water with just a little bit of jello mixed in(will make them feel full)

Well, I am not a doctor, but I am a mother. When my son was 5 months old, the WIC program changed brands of formula. His body rejected the new brand. My pediatrician told me it was okay to give him skim milk (which can be "made" by doing a 1/2 whole milk and 1/2 water solution) with a little Karo syrup added to it (why the syrup, I don't really know). I did just that and my son tolerated it well and is now a strong, healthy 11, almost 12, yr old. Just a thought to help you out, but like I said, I am not a doctor so take it for what it is worth. :o)

Dont give your baby whole milk, it will make your baby sick. Do you have infant cereal? You can mix it with water and feed the baby that. Otherwise, just plain water may fill the baby's for a little bit - but you NEED to go get the formula...you cant leave your baby hungry. That is neglect.

Yeah, hon, if the baby is hungry, give it some regular milk. 5 months is not too young. Some babies might get a reaction from it, but most will be ok. You wont hurt the baby.
I have 4 sons, and all mine were on regular milk by the time they were 2 months. It stayed in them better than the formulas. I know every doctor and every concerned parent is going to say 'don't do it', but you can try.

Before you give the baby milk do you have kind of juice? I would fill a bottle 3/4 full with water and 1/4 with the juice...it's more say then mixing regular millk and formula. There may be a good chance the baby won't take formula after it has whole milk. Good luck! Lots of swaddling!!

I commend you! A+++ for being a single Dad with a Baby! Dilute the whole milk until you can get some formula. Its not good for the baby, but it does have nutrients. The Baby will be ok. My heart goes out to you, and if you can, switch to soy formula. Cows milk is horrible for a new digestive system.

Why can't you get formula for a couple of hours??? I would give the baby milk diluted with water...I'm sure that other people will disagree, but I have done it with both of my kids when I had nothing else and they were fine!!! It's not like you're gonna be giving them milk all the time...just this once (or twice) won't hurt! You don't want to starve your baby!!! Or if you're afraid of the milk thing try sugar water...only a SMALL amount of sugar...a pinch!

Don't give the baby whole milk. The baby will be okay, eventually he/she will go to sleep. I was breastfeeding and got a stomach bug and my milk almost stopped. My pediatrician told me to just keep nursing even though my daughter wasn't getting anything. He said that it would bring my milk back and a baby can go for over 24 hours without any milk and be okay (just really pissed off). It is better to do that than give cows milk or water.

Don't give the baby whole milk, there's a reason why that's not a normal part of their diet. Their bodies can not break down the fats in regular milk yet. If you have some apple juice, I'd water that down and give the baby some of that until you can get to the store.

Try borrowing some formula from a neighbor is there is a baby around, or watered down juice, or watered down whole milk should be fine just this once.
