Not if done correctly.
Scolding for not doing it right is very bad; but, if you say, "Here, let me show you this cool trick I learned to do it better", you will still reward them for cleaning up but teach a better way to do it.
If you make learning fun, they will want to do it again.

If you don't teach a child how you want something done, then how will they learn? Just saying, "Go clean your room" is not instruction, it's a statement. Making a bed is not basic instinct, it's a skill that is learned. So, get in there with them and show what you want done. I think too many times we take basic tasks for granted and assume everyone, no matter what age, should just "know".

I think the "right" way to clean up is a matter of opinion. Maybe you could clean with the child next time and show them the way you like to clean. Maybe he/she will want to try it your way next time.

If a child cleans up, i beleive the child should have the sense of accomplishment, and success to their hard work. If this is disrupted, it can and does effect their sense of self esteem, sense of self, and successful feelings in the future, and the ability to trust their own abilities.

I would wait until the next time that task has to be done, and then say, "Let's do this together." Hopefully, the next time the same task is tackled, he or she will do it right. Personally, I think doing it right after is a direct hit to their self esteem. Just my opinion and experience. :)
