I'm accident prone. My mom used to call me Grace as a child....because she thought I could use all the help I could get!

Personally, I picked that trait up (looking to see what I tripped over) from my cats. They're so flexible and beautiful when they walk or pounce...until they miscalculate and up falling flat! Then they start the grooming ritual and look around as if to say "I TOTALLY meant to do that!" Riiiiiiight. I guess I "look to see what I tripped over" because it's better than trying to lick the back of my leg instead......

ROFLMAO..........

Not this happens much, but if you trip over yourself it would likely be due to the fact the you were not payign attention. It would be natural to look and see if you may have hit something rather than assume you were just clumsy.

I don't see this as an attempt to fool anyone, so no one should be fooled by it.

No they are not. I think we look back also out of habit cause we are so embarrassed & we are trying to act like we are not. Have you ever seen some one that trys to act so cool like they tripped cause the sidewalk jumped up & delibrately tripped them ? I saw a woman stumble over the sidewalk one time & then turned around & loudly cussed the sidewalk.

Tripping and falling can be an embarassing moment and people will try to recover thier dignity in some way. Of course this adds to the humour of such an event.

No- the best thing to do when you trip on the side walk/street is to continue into a little jog and then resume walking. It looks totally natural.

It was a self-justifying ego reaction. It was a natural reaction to protect one's self from embarassment. It have had happened to me, but I know it was only me. I just get up as if nothing had happened, and just reminisce what happened later and laugh at it! I also try to put this on the list to think about specially during hard times and it makes me light-hearted and makes the day! So, next time you fall, just get up and get your head up high!

Yes it happens.

Thats because, until u see and verify that you haven't been tripped over something, u don't know that u actually tripped over yourself.

Probably not, but then again most people don't care that YOU tripped... only when they trip.

Not usually, but react gracefully and act seriously about it and you'll be surprised with the results.
