Ok, HCG is what both blood tests and urine tests detect. A baby won't start producing HCG until implantation... when the baby implants in the uterus. Usually, a blood test won't show up anything until at least 8 days past ovulation, and that's IF the baby has implanted. Sometimes the baby won't even implant until like 12 days past ovulation.
