First of all, some of those darn screensavers and wallpapers ARE spyware. I would start by uninstalling all of those.
Then go to http://www.download.com and getting SpyBot Search & Destroy, installing and running that to clean things up.
Then go back to download.com and get AD-AWARE, the free version. That will clean things up.
Check your anti-virus and run that scan.
When everything is PERFECT again, then try one of those silly wallpaper and screensaver things. Once installed, run the Ad-aware and Spybot again to see if those are detected as BAD. If so, try something different.
All of this takes time, but keep at it. Otherwise you will lose control of your computer and you will face grave disappointment.

The Yahoo! toobar has an anti-spyware scanning function you can use to scan your system, and you can also download a free copy of Ad-Aware from Lavasoft to scan and remove spyware from your computer. See if that helps.

Time to play detective.
If you can find out what type of spyware oyu have, you will find ample solutions (manual) online.
It will most likely be a combination of finding and deleting folders and files, and removing or changine registry keys.
Either way its good lesson to take as these are problems you will most likely need to solve again.
