This isn't Pedro's first injury-plagued, bang-up job of a season.
He's done it before, and he's responded well. Despite being a Yankee fan, I've always admired Martinez's ability. It's hard not to. I think he'll bounce back when they need him -this- year, and next year, I think he'll be fine.
Then again, he's not as young as he used to be. Maybe throwing as hard as he did all those years, with such a slim, meek physique finally caught up to him.

Pedro is a small guy to be a power pitcher and uses his body to generate the force behind his pitches. Eventually that will cause his body to wear down and he'll be more and more injured. Pedro has been an amazing pitcher for many years but all that throwing and the pressure he's put on his small frame is causing the problems you're now seeing.
This is the reason that the Sox refused to sign him to a 4-year deal like the Mets did.

First off hes old and a few years out of his prime and he was like beltran last year hes gettin overpayed to do close to nothing.
Second sometimes like last night the defense wasnt really there. Lastly hes a professional athlete if he feels an injury before the game hes not going to the manger and saying skip i dont think i can pitch today, another example is lirano agianst the tigers he got lit up because he felt somethin before the game and hes payin for it now hes on the DL.
Be happy the mets sent lima time down a couple months ago or they would be in trouble and tom glavine is pitchin well this year. Also el duque and traschel havent done bad job keepin the mets in first in the east there

It looks like Perdro is certainly having a rough go of it and having a hard time staying healthy. His body is aging and seems to be less tolerant of the stress that his body is put through every 5 days. Having said that, he'll get through this patch. Unlike other aging pitchers who rely on one pitch or steroids, Pedro has many pitches and doesn't juice up.
He'll be back, not so much better than ever, but he'll be back and be very effective against Dodger offenses.

Pedro is breaking down. He's had leg and hip trouble all year, now due to overcompensating he's having trouble with his calf. The Mets have a huge lead and should rest Pedro, without him in form they have no chance to make it to the World Series.

I wouldn't count him out just yet, although it's been a very frustrating year for him. He pitched really well - and much better than his w-l record indicated - in the first half of the year.
But, realistically, he is a little past his prime, and it's hard to imagine him winning another Cy Young, or approaching 20 wins again with all the injuries he's had.

Sorry to disappoint you, but I hate the guy.
So I hope it's the beginning of the end for him.
If I never see him again it'll be too soon.
Realistically though, I DO think he'll bounce back and be there next year.
And I don't wish him any harm, I just can't stand him.

Oh my calf hurts. How many excuses does this guy need? He just got rocked not like it doesn’t always happen can’t he just say, “my wife and I are planning a trip and I had my mind on that and not no pitching”, or “I just had a bad day” or “the Phillies whipped me like a Galley slave”. Come on you don’t just get injured before the game pitch, suck so bad that you don’t even finish the game and then claim it was an injury.
