I have climbed highest mountain
I have run through the fields
Only to be with you
Only to be with you

I have run
I have crawled
I have scaled these city walls
These city walls
Only to be with you

But I still havent found what Im looking for
But I still havent found what Im looking for

I have kissed honey lips
Felt the healing in her fingertips
It burned like fire
This burning desire

I have spoke with the tongue of angels
I have held the hand of a devil
It was warm in the night
I was cold as a stone

But I still havent found what Im looking for
But I still havent found what Im looking for

I believe in the kingdom come
Then all the colors will bleed into one
Bleed into one
Well yes Im still running

You broke the bonds and you
Loosed the chains
Carried the cross
Of my shame
Of my shame
You know I believed it

But I still havent found what Im looking for
But I still havent found what Im looking for
But I still havent found what Im looki

It was about how they went to five different grocery stores and couldn't find Boo Berry cereal, jk, it was a joke Edge did on Conan O'Brian. The song is really about religion and finding your faith.

Sounds like the stages of a relationship- in the first "stanza" (first verse) he's talking about the search, trying to find that special someone, and the lengths we'll go to to start a relationship. The second verse talks about the ups and downs of a relationship, the good times and bad. The third verse describes the breakup. But all the while, he "still hasn't found what he's looking for"- meaning that despite having gone through the relationship, there was never the true love or connection he was really seeking.

Everyone in the band is very devout. This is a song about their search for spiritual meaning. Because enlightenment is very hard to attain and takes a lot of discipline, they "still haven't found" it.
The fact that the band is still together and working after more than 20 years, with no changes in membership, no drug problems, no embarrassing public sexual episodes, speaks volumes about their commitment and integrity. The mere status of being celebrities holds great temptations that has brought down many rock stars, but U2 continues to focus on their work of making music and making the world a better place.

OK, it's as easy as this. Bono is as deep as the sea, scratch that. Bono is as deep as the oceans, no no no. Bono has the depth of the heavens, uhhhh no. Bono is god and is just toying with us mortals, telling us things we can almost grasp, but will never fully inderstand, eeeeh close. In order to understand that song you must first understand Bono, which is impossible. I emplre you to not ruin your life on this quest. Many have tried and have come up with half-a$$ descriptions and spat them out knowing that they are not completely answering the question and in turn propigating future though processes into an insanity causing endevor. Just know that because Bono invented the mullett (his words) that the end all answer is probably not even worth knowing. Good luck, and God..I mean Bono Speed.

He still hasn't found what he's looking for.

LOL! Ok, maybe that's too simple. He wants peace. Worldwide. He's run, climbed, scaled, kissed, spoken, etc. So far, no luck.

He hasn't given up his faith, though (believes in the kingdom come), he credits Jesus for his part in breaking the bonds and loosing the chains, but he still....etc....

The man wants peace.
Hope he finds what he's looking for.

This is their discussion of their daily walk with God. It has to do with all of our struggles with dealing with the "world" versus dealing with the divine.

Bono, The Edge and Larry were all Christians when U2 began (still are). Adam was not (he claimed Buddhism on many occasions I believe). Now Adam is also a Believer.

U2 'found' religion in their lives (no judgement, just fact). I believe that this is their song explaining the 'why' of the world and finding 'faith'

My interpretation is he is looking for God. He still had unresolved issues and and stil searching for answers. I'm only on my first cup of coffe, thats as deep as I get right now.

Bono is referring to his search for Jesus on Earth and the futility of trying to find him in Earthly acts and experiences, because he isn't here yet.
