The drier has a number of safety devices built into it to prevent the possibility of fire.
Air flow sensor, if there is inadequate air flow, will not permit the heater to turn on.
heat sensor, if the temperate got too hot will trip a switch and prevent the heater from coming on.
Some have thermal fuses, if it got too hot would cause the fuse to blow open, ( fuses are inexpensive but require a person qualified to perform the repair)
Finally the element could have blow open, but not very likely, as the safety devices would have kicked in first.
Most Dryers require 220 volts and come off a fuse panel with two breakers. 220 Volts for the heater, but the blower or fan needs only 110 volts, so only one breaker or fuse may have popped. Check them also, turn them off and on
Dryers require maintenance.
Clean the lint out of the exhaust port outside, there is a grill to prevent small animals from entering and can cause a build up of lint.
The duct should be inspected and cleaned if required.
The lint in this duct is very dry and an excellent source for fire.

Sometimes the heating element in the dryer can either come loose or burn out. If that is the case, you just replace it and you are good to go.
I have had this problem before, I had Sears come to fix it. On that note, I don't know if the heating element is some kind of hot coil or what, but I would guess that to be the problem.

You need a new heating element installed. If you don't have a guy around, call a repairman. He will bring the element to your home and install it. It's been some years, but it should cost somewhere around $60 - $100. Ask, they will tell you before they do the service.

It could be that it has lint up in the hose that could be clogged. I would check that first before I call anyone out.

I've had this problem. Call the electrician it is probably the heating element and he'll have to replace it.
