For best results, we recommend that you arrange the roses in a vase with water and floral preservative, as you would with a regular arrangement. Let the roses open up until they are approximately halfway open. if you do not let them open at all, you end up with very small buds (if this is what you are looking for, proceed with the following instructions). After you have allowed the roses to partially open, remove them from the vase, tie a string around the bottom of the stems and hang the bunch upside down in a dry place. It will, depending on the humidity, take about two weeks for the roses to completely dehydrate.

Tie them together with a long ribbon, and then use the ribbon to hang them upside down in a dark, cool, dry place, like a closet. Depending on how old they are, they'll be completely dry anywhere from within a few days to may 10 days or so.

If you have a Michaels, or Rag Shop they sell this powder stuff that you put on the roses to aid in the drying. And they tell you to put them in a dark closet preferbly upside down so the petals don't lose their shape. I have tried it without the powder and they dry rather well but the color isn't as nice. If you use that powder stuff the color will look much more vibrant.

WHAT YOU WANT TO GET IS A PLASTIC CONTAINER LONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE ROSES WITH OUT SMASHING THEM . GET TO THE STORE AND BUY A LAUNDRY DETERGENT CALLED BORAX FILL THE CONTAINER HALF WAY , LAY THE ROSES ON THE POWDER , CLOSE THE LID . LEAVE IT ALONE FOR ABOUT A WEEK . IF YOU ARE USING SHORT CUT ROSES , THEN JUST STICK THE STEM IN THE POWDER . GOOD LUCK

My wife ties a string around the stems and lets them hang up-side down for a few days. It seems to work pretty well for her. Just make sure you hang them in a room with low humidity.
