Because we take ourselves and everybody else too seriously.

Since you are using a number of first person pronouns in this question, the natural assumption is that it does indeed refer to you. Now, your description of how thoughts run through your head to fast to capture is recognized by the psychiatric community as racing thoughts and is a major symptom of Bipolar Disorder. Lithium will help. Next, if you leave questions open to interpretation you're going to get answers that often don't pertain to what you're asking. You're correct in not giving guidelines or clues. That leading and indicates you're merely looking for someone to agree with you. And finally, if you find it okay to "exercise your imagination" (meaning, apparently, the respondent's imagination), it follows that you must be okay with their interpreting your questions as referring to you. If it doesn't apply to you, say so.

I have noticed that people tend to do this...don't know why really...i know i tend to treat each question as though it was asked just to me, though i know that isn't the case...i generally will not read anyone Else's answer to a question until i have posted my own...i prefer my thoughts to be inspired by what is in my own head rather than someone Else's.

People Think You are Referring to Yourself When You Post a Question because you are the one asking it.

There's an old cliche' that people tell stories using the phrase,
"I have this friend who..." & they are usually talking about themselves. So, naturally people assume whatever you ask or
say on Answers is about yourself. Or why else would anyone
care about another human being.
I can relate to what you're asking.

I know what you mean. It's too much for them to answer you in the general sense or give their own opinion on the matter. Instead they ask you for further info and then your left with a no answer or a half one that depends on you. Frustrating I know!

That's a good question. I've wondered that myself. If you ask a crazy question, people assume you are referring to yourself. Maybe it's just curiosity or sheer boredom! Geez people, lighten up!!!!! Have a rockin' day!

It's easy er to ask and answer that way.
Try to focus on the things that are important to you.Sometimes my mind wonders to things that are pure fiction, crazy stuff,I agree with you on exercising your imagination. But can it be harmful?

I know what you mean, sometime my questions come from things others say and have nothing to do with me. You keep using your imagination and ask what ever you want. :)
