If you are on the pill and in my case take 3 packs and then 7 day break (dr prescribed it that way due to painful periods) when after unprotected sex should you take a pregnancy test? Im still on pill at the moment.

I had unprotected sex about 16 days into the first pack after a break. Have been taking the pill for 10 months

They suggest about 7 days, but if you can get it done sooner, then it is probably better.

See your GP to get more advice.

You can still get accurate results from a home pregnancy test even if you are on the Pill. Pregnancy Tests measure a hormone that is only present during actual pregnancy (HCG), and the Pill doesn't affect the levels of that hormone.

So whether or not you are on the Pill - you should wait until your period is one day late - to have an effective reading on a pregnancy test. This will give your body time to accumulate enough HCG in your system to show up in the test. If you take the test any sooner, you may get a false-negative reading.

If it's the combined pill then you don't need a pregnancy test.
I've been on it for years, normally you always take a 7 day break in between packs, that's when you have your period, but you're still protected. The same thing applies with the three pack cycle you are on, even on the 7 day break, you're still covered.
If however you are still worried, go and talk to your GP.

You should have been protected by the pill, but if in doubt, take a test now. They are pretty reliable these days and some can even tell before you miss a period. Being on the pill might give you a false reading though. Call your surgery or pharmacist and ask their advice, it's free and confidential. I hope you get some peace of mind soon!

If you're taking 3 packs all in a row, you shouldn't have a period for 9 weeks (2 months).

If you still think you may be pregnant, it depends on when you ovulate. You should wait between 2 to 3 weeks before taking a pregnancy test.

If you have taken the pill correctly (not missed any) there will a very slim change your pregnant. But if you think you might be pregnant I would take a test 2 weeks after having unprotected sex.
Good luck.

Can I recommend that you go to see your GP. You should know the answer to this and any other questions you might have about the pill, before you actually take it. Your doctor should explain things to you properly so that you fell confident in taking it. You should also have a quick chat with him/her about STD's too, the pill wont protect you from these or AIDS for that matter. Good luck.

if you're on the pill then you're protected from pregnancy--but there's good tests out there that can tell u if ur pregnant 48 hours after sex--just look at the boxes in ur pharmacy

no, if u r on pill u must be protected enough. but if u feel paranoid, take a test just after ur usual period date should be.
