NO, we are a vital part of a world market. We should help other countries to be a part of it in a positive way. You simply can't crawl under a rock to avoid problems. Face them head-on.
Unless you just like the idea of NO GAS at the gas station.
Power outages on the hottest day of the year
Heating shortages in the coldest day of the year
Run-away inflation
Fewer jobs and fewer opportunities
Getting out of our Isolationist ways is how America got out of the depression years.

You already have begun. You have put into place measures to restrict border crossings, built bigger fences, armed more border patrols, refused to live up to commitments under the free trade agreement. With elections coming up in the next few months, more and more incumbents will be spreading the fear-mongering message while clutching their Bibles. Your foreign policy will ensure an escalation of the mess in the middle east in the hopes of swaying a few more voters, and if that doesn't work, the feds will announce a few more "Terror" plots in October and how great the current administration has protected you all. Isolationism breeds fear and you already are the most paranoid people on the planet , everyone needs friends, even the U.S.of A. You sure you can do all that is needed alone? Great comfort to the people of New Orleans and the Gulf coast that are still in trailers. You are only as strong as your weakest citizens and the national debt that has been incurred the past 6 years or so is just what Dubya envisioned with his international forays. He's also fixed social security as well hasn't he? Please vote on the real issues in November, not the manufactured ones that only serve the power mongers that initiated them for their own purposes.

I think it is next to impossible for such a thing to occur. We are an integral part of the global community. And we have been richly blessed by God in so many ways. It is incumbent on us to share our blessings with the less fortunate nations/peoples of the world.
I think it's reached the point where we're damned if we do, and damned if we don't. If we didn't help others around the world there would be an outcry that the great American nation was being selfish and cruel.

It would be impossible in this day and age. We have become dependent on the global economy, as well as oil.
It won't stop other countries from still hating us and our enemies from trying to attack. And because we are isolated, we would have even less help in defending ourselves.
Also, if the rest of the world continued to fight each other and no one was in a strength position, i.e., us, to try to effect some control...and as a result, the world blew up, we'd go up too....isolationists or not.

If the USA would stop sticking their noses into other country's business, we would have less problems with the other countries. 911 may have never happened. And, keep our money here to help the American people.

We would suffer badly. We depend on foreigners for so many things from industry to medicine. That would send this country into a permanent depression.

we'd all go broke and lose our jobs.
You seem to forget how intertwined our economy is with the world.
