Right Click in an emty area of the Folder then Click Properties where you see the customize tab click that, then click whatever template or image you feel like making your folder.

(Note: In Windows XP folder background images can't be added, but in earlier Windoze OS you can, also you could actually change the backround image on Xp but only if you get a special decompiler tool like Resourse Hacker to decompile explorer.exe and SHELL32.dll, you can pretty much customize anything you feel like customizing like the start button toolbar, folder settings whatever you want.

just search google type "Resource Hacker Download"

Microsoft slacks in that area. Where you should easily be able to customize with your favorite pictures, you basically need to hack to do so. They do this however for a reason. Fact is, alot of people have chosen options to have no solid color behind lettering of iles and folders. Users may select a picture making it impossible to read text of a item, cluttering the area.

I do think by default there should be more gradients and simple crap like that utilizing the systems default colors to smooth out those blinding white areas.

Vista Beta 2 dosent fix this problem yet either.

Right click on an empty area in that folder and then click on CUSTOMIZE THIS FOLDER.

Then you can just add an html or background to it.
