A teacher who cannot control or teach his/her students without punishing them corporal isn't even worth being called a teacher!
Fortunately I belong to a school called Loreto day school in India which is a branch of a convent school where teachers run the risk of being dismissed if they even touch any student a bit harshly!

On the negative side of things it can tramatise them for life and severely mess with their head, on the plus side of things it teaches respect for their elders and for adults. But teachers who are bullying and controlling can get a kick out of hurting and controlling kids. It does happen. A lot of school bullies end up being school teachers.

Yes ,if a kid in the class interrupts the ordinary atmosphere of learning by in appropriate behavior ,this makes the teachers job hard and also shows disrespect. It also effects the other students.
