A hattrick is scored when a player scores 3 goals in a single game regardless of what goes on between the goals.
Example: You score in the 6th minute. Your opposition equalises in the 17th minute. You gain score in the 23rd minute. You teammate scores in the 57th minute and then you score your third in the 83rd minute. CONGRAGULATIONS!!! It's a hattrick!
Now say that the game is tied 2-2 after 90 mins and you score both goals for your teams. in extra time you score the winning goal for your team it is a hattrick.
but if the game ends 2-2 and goes to penalty shoot-out. You step up and SCORE!! NO HATTRICK.
But your second goal came from a penalty conversion in the first half. It was a part of the hattrick!!!

yea it's just 3 goals in one match by the same player. you can also score a perfect hat trick, which is scoring one goal with your head, one with your left foot, and one with your right (obviously still by one person in one match).
