God is not the one bringing suffering, hunger, strife, anger and misery upon humanity. Humans do that to oneanother.

I don't. I haven't ever believed in it. It is not necessary to be a good person.
I am happy. I am kind and loving. I am not a criminal. I raised lovely children. I love others and help people. I appreciate my gifts and have a purpose-driven life. I am not afraid to live or die.
All without a diety to blame or cajole, make deals with or praise.
I understand that love, justice, and goodness are important qualities in life, and their source is people's better selves.
Bad things happen. To good and bad, and in between. Innocents and the perps, too. It is the nature of life. Take it and keep moving. Try not to be a perp. Keep doing what you think needs to be done.
PS Spell-check, baby.

God is the last hope...It is the End with another name. Just a word that is never fulfilled.
It means that we are not really living in our paradise. We ca not yet create a paradise. We are too much human. Animal behavior.

One day, in the future, men will be free. And then God will perish like a B&W picture of the past...

They CHOOSE to believe in God. The belief in something more powerful and in control with a perfect plan gives people hope, they feel loved. Believing this life is temporary on Earth helps them cope through difficult circumstances and they wait to arrive to their real home with God in heaven where there is peace and love. Believing and feeding our spirituality through the practice of believing in God nourishes our soul.

because people need to live for something, a purpose for sustenance. I personally believe that only the one who created us can give us a purpose. A purpose is that which we invariably seek though sometimes at a subliminal level and thus deny that we do not actually seek such a thing. this purpose is not something to be found within/innately as a meaningful purpose has to satisfy our ultimate need for self-actualisation(Maslow's triangle of need's)-which actually is the ultimate aim of a purpose, self actualisation.as such self actualisation ironically speaking has to be something which in its nature is self transcendent.Hence we need to turn to God(self transcendent in nature). He who provides us with purpose.will material wealth suffice? No. this which is not temporal and not self transcendent in nature would eventually lead to a void at the very end.friends and family?Yes however not over arching enough in life and all it's facets and too transitory to be sought after as a purpose. As a supplement to purpose perhaps, but the main purpose would have to be God.

People believe in gods for the same reason children believe in Santa - they want a reward and they want to imagine the world to be a just place.

God, at least in this country, is not imposed on anyone. One can believe, or reject. If you choose not to believe, that is just fine by me. But, if you so choose, you had better pray you're right. "The fool has said in is heart there is no God."

The thought if an after life is comforting to the level where it obscures the logic of many.

God is the Almighty One. There is only one true God; Christ is His Son. Just because you don't believe in Him does not mean that He is not real!
