Here is the rundown.
Control your router from a computer that is hardwired into it.
Get into the Wireless section. The SSID is just a wireless name. Don't worry about that, but you want to know what that is. Turn OFF the security at first, so you can get it working with your computer that will connect to the wireless connection.
With the wireless computer, use the windows wireless network selection to look for Wireless networks. You should see your own SSID in the list. Pick that and use CONNECT. If you are successful at this point, you can then go back to the other computer and set the Wireless security. Any of the WEP security settings will do.
Good luck

Check the linksys website for your specific behavior - you should be able to find an answer. The fix may depend on the specific model you're using. You'll need have the same pieces set up in both the router and your laptop (for instance, WEP keys would need to be entered into both, etc.).

Reset the router! There's a small button on the back. Go to ctrl pnl> network settings> view wirless networks>change advanced settings>wireless networks>remove what is there making sure there's a check in let windows configure my settings. ok, reboot. after the router and computer are reset you are back at square 1> then you can set SSIDS and encryption.

sound like your laptop might be locked to only connecting to one ssid. i would remove the wireless settings from your lap and re add.
then go into the router, and turn off an y wep or encryption, and make sure that its not set to only accept specific macs.
i would remove the wireless card in device manager, and refresh.
i would then search the cards settings in the windows ssetup, and the manufacturers setup, for anything relating to only connecting to one specific network.

SSID is the name of the wireles network, my guess Linksys. And Network key is a secret password in order to connect to router.
these thinks can be defined in routers administration panel... usualy http://192.168.0.1... just read the manual of ur router to get more information...

Hi
I have a Linksys router and i called them up to find out the problem as i had no internet on my laptop, it would not connect to the router at all,
They told me to look at the settings on the laptop and i had found out after getting the router to connect to my pc the information on my laptop from the router had not come through so i have to enter the routers information like IP address to the laptop manually, go to your router by accesing it at http://192.168.1.1/ and then enter the information required to the laptop and then it should work.
hope this helps

Thing is it depends on what OS you are using I have one setup on two of my computers and have found that win2000 is far the best for setting up it finds the XP computer straight away and then I have to do a disk from the XP and it tells me to put it in the win2000 (XP being the host) and the win 2000 says it don't need it which it don't but after making the disk and rebooting the XP it then finds the win2000, you are right they are a pain
