Ra was considered to be the head god in Egyptian religion, much like Zeus in Greek mythology. Being Lord of Lords, one of the hieroglyphs that was used to represent him a "winged sun", he was even combined with other gods and known as Amun-Ra, after a combination with Amun, and also known as Ra-Harakhte due to a union of Horus and Ra. I know that Re, and Phra are also names that have been associated with this Egyptian god, and he is considered to be the father, and grandfather (ect.) of many of the other egyptian gods.

The Egyptians believed the Sun was Ra, not that he was the lord of the Sun. He was the main God, and as such manifest in everything. The Sun was considered one of his forms (all Egyptian God's had a human, animal, and part-human, part-animal form).

I suggest you download the shorter files at the 2nd url as the 1 long one (also at 2nd url) is a bit much to watch in 1 sitting. The lecture is in depth and thus a bit long. If you ever find a better one email me.
