It is bad because you are halting the blood flow in your leg's veins. This causes varicose veins....which are those veins that range from deep red to dark purple. They are swollen veins that are raised above the skin's surface. Crossing your legs will slow the flow of blood from your veins to your heart... increasing the pressure in the leg veins.
I cross my legs a lot too! It is most certainly a habit, and I do it so much that I cant really say how often I do it. Think about the varicose veins every time you cross your legs and you will probably remind yourself to stop!

Crossing your legs does decrease blood flow to the areas below. In some cultures, crossing the legs is considered rude. As with many things moderation is the key to balance.

Did you see any picture of Krishna? He as God likes to cross His legs at knees. So, He is the origin of everything and everybody and that means taht because He likes to cross His legs at His knees we also have the tendency to do the same. There are many yoga exercises where you have to cross your legs and these are special postures that increase concentration.
Please, chant Hare Krishna and be happy.

I also was told about the "ankle cross". A proper young lady always preserves her modesty with the ankle cross od the cross at the knee (as long as the skirt is the appropriate length to not show your thigh). Yes, I grew up with rules, and my daughters will grow up with these rules. A proper young lady is hard to find these days and I want to make sure my daughters marry well.

i seldom cross my legs, i did learn that it was the proper way to sit, but i couldn't be bothered with it coz it felt ucomfortable.
is it bad for you to cross your legs? bullshit, that's just one of those fairy tales that people tell to sound important or impressive or whatever. it is true though that it is a form of body language. i'm not exactly sure anymore what it means, but i think that if someone crosses their legs during an interview/ conversation that they are closed (closed personalities), or maybe it was something to do with meaning business and only that, nothing personal--> they don't want to have a personal relationship, they just wanna talk buisness. i thought it was something like that, but i can't be sure.

I believe girls from decent families were advised to sit with their legs crossed (specially when wearing skirts), because if they sat with legs apart, their thighs, sometimes up to the underwear would be visible.

IT AIN'T BAD FOR YOU TO CROSS YOUR LEG, YES IT CERTAINLY A POLITE WAY OF SITTING.
BUT HERE IN THE MIDDLE EAST, IT CAN BE VIEWED AS AN INSULT, AS YOU END UP EXPOSING YOUR SOLE & THE PERSON TOWARDS WHOM YOUR SOLE POINTS IS THE RECIPIENT OF YOUR DISRESPECT.
MORE WOMEN CROSS THEIR LEGS THAN MEN. PHYSIOLOGICAL REASONS. AT THE HIPS, MEN ARE MORE RIGID AS COMPARED TO A WOMAN MAKING IT UNCOMFORTABLE FOR THEM TO SIT IN THAT POSITION.
I DO NOT RECOLLECT CROSSING MY LEG SINCE 6 IN THE MORNING TODAY..........
