I never wash dishes wothout wearing gloves. Buy them at the grocery store. Usually they are yellow. I've been using them sice my teens and have VERY soft hands. As soft as my face really. Would you subject your face to dish soap...NO..so don't do that to your hands.

Soft skin tend to go with hydrated, oil-filled skin. Many "beauty-product" moisturisers actually contain very little moisturiser (even the "intensive" ones), but lots of substances to make them smell nice, feel nice etc..
So, one of the best ways to get hands "as soft as your face" is to moisturise with a good quality emollient cream (many people now advise avoiding aqueous cream as it can dry and irritate in itself, although it is good as a substitute for soap). Try to get one which contains at least 20% fat. Different areas (and different dermatologists) have their own "pet" products.
So, go to the chemist and ask for a general emollient. It should be unperfumed and, as mentioned above, at least 20% fat. Higher fat levels do make the creams greasier and harder to rub in, but they work better. Gels are good in this regard, as they are quite high fat content (30%), but are comparatively easy to rub in.
When applying the cream, massage it gently into the skin and, if there are any hairs in the area, rub it in the direction of the hairs (as otherwise there is a risk of folliculitis).
If you have a skin rash/dry/itchy skin then, of course, seeing your doctor is a good idea.

Use a dish soap for sensitive hands and then use lotion as soon as you are finished with the dishes
