OH MY GOD ME TOO!! My fiance shouts at me for never leaving anyone a message, but i flippin' hate them! They'll see my missed call, they don't need a message from me too, mumbling about some sort of stupidity, breathing deeply into the phone whilst giggling about something that has nothing to do with what i'm mumbling about. AAARRRGGHHHH!!!!!

The BT equivalent in South Africa a few years ago brought out a service where you could get the voice of a famous person for the message on your answering machine - When I heard Nelson Mandela saying that my friend was out, it was instinct to leave a very polite message and since then I just pretend that I am talking to the person I am calling rather than to a machine so that generally, I can leave a sensible message.

I'm not afraif of them personally if they do annoy me but my partner is the same as you are ... Whenever making a phone call, should he hang up abruptly ... I know he's got an answering machine! He says they make him feel totally lost, he doesn't know what to say, worries he'll get cut off before he's spoken or whatever else and simply hangs up! Reason why i have to make most calls from the house! Cos if it's an aswering machine ... I still leave our name and number so someone can call us back! Now were answering machines to phone us back ... My partner would never go near the phone again!

The BT equivalent in South Africa some years in the past delivered out a provider the place you ought to get the voice of a renowned individual for the message on your answering device - as quickly as I heard Nelson Mandela announcing that my buddy became into out, it became into instinct to bypass away an relatively polite message and because then I purely pretend that i'm speaking to the guy i'm calling somewhat than to a device so as that many times, i will bypass away a pragmatic message.

I hate leaving messages. I never know what to say so I end up rambling. My outgoing message is like 7 words. "Hey, you've reached me, leave a message". I wouldn't necesarilly call it an "irrational" fear but I definitely don't like them.

I'm not keen on them at all and I always avoid leaving a message unless I really have to! I must sound ridiculous on the messages I do leave.

I wouldn't say it was a fear but they always surprise me like an axe murderer in a dark alley. I mean they are alright once you get to know them, but when the dial tone stops ringing adn the answering machine clicks on, it's not the most welcome of surprises.

Yes, I am normally a very articulate person, but when I phone someone and their voicemail comes on, I just panic and talk a load of old twaddle, glad I'm not the only one this happens to
