U.S.A, Canada, France, U.K., Italy, Germany, Japan and Russia.

It started in 1973 with the oil crisis ans subsequent recession.
In 1975, U.S.A, France, U.K. Italy, Germany and Japan had their first meeting in France, forming the G6. In 1976, when they met next, Canada joined, thus becoming the G7. In 1977, the European Union (EEC back then) started attending the meetings, but the group remained known as the G7.
Russia joined as a full member in 1997. Since then it's been known as the G8.
