I don't immunize my children until they are old enough to handle them, usually after 1-2 yrs. I think it's cruel to give babies so small so many shots when their immune systems are still developing. Do you know that immunizations are injecting the actual diseases in their bodies? That's terrible! When I do immunize I choose which ones I want and don't bother with the very risky ones. I will not have my baby be miserable, even for one day because some quack doctor tells me i have to do this. I wish more parents would be more informed instead of stupidly going by what some doctor says (the doctors are told, not taught, what immunizations to give and when). I hate stupid parents, their children suffer in the long run since immunizations are linked to autism and learning disabilities. They are probably not very pronounced but it can happen, I won't risk it by giving my kid a shot of freakin diptheria.

The autism scare was a bunch of university students trying to frighten us mums over the MMR jab!! i think it would be irresponsible to not get children immunised especially if you miss the first three jabs they have at 2 3 and 4 months old then your child(ren) are at risk of getting meningitis which can kill quickly. If you skip the MMR jab again the risks of serious illness are greater!! There is NO real medical evidence to suggest the MMR jab causes or triggers autism, The connection was made between the two because a child has there MMR jab at around 12-18mnths and that is the age that Autism becomes more apparent, if your child is going to be autistic he'she will be regardless of how and when they are immunised, if you are worried wait until the 18 month mark for the MMR shot!

Only the 3 in 1 MMR is "linked" to autism. The link is very iffy. If this is a concern for you, you could consider a delayed vaccination schedule. You should talk to your pediatrician and discuss your concerns also ask them if they will provide seperate shots for MMR instead of all at the same time.

The reason for vaccinating against childhood illnesses is that they can disfigure, cause brain damage, or kill your child.

Also, if ANYONE in your family has an EGG allergy it is VERY important to tell your child's DR.

You should continue with them...they need to give some of them over a period of time to gently increase the baby's resistance to certain illness's.
Some immunisations have been linked to autism etc but this is no longer thought to be the case. There are very very slight risks with any jab but these are around 500,000 to 1. However if your child is not immunised against measles for example, they have a 500 to 1 chance of becoming deaf or brain damaged if they catch it (and they will). Point is, there is a small risk with everything but it is safer than not getting it. I know its hard cos you always want to do the best for your wee one and protect them....

To be honest i did not get my child immunised.....

my reasons are

1. My aunt had a child 21yrs ago. She followed guidelines about the immunisations and had her child get all of them. From birth to around 4yrs the child was 'normal' after her final needles she showed signs of mental disability. She now is unable to do anything for herself and will always be dependent on others.
We believe this was due to the needles she was given.

2. I think they did not have these immunisations years ago, so are they really necessary???

3. I think health visitors and G.P.s bully mums into getting their children immunised as they get money for it.

I say you are the mother, you decide.

My child is now 6 and has never had any of the illness these jabs are said to help.

1 - there is no link between autism and immunizations. This is just an urban legend.

2 - the reason you should get your child immunized is that they can contract a life threatening disease (that is why immunizations are given).

3- the chances of your child getting a life threatening disease because he wasnt immunized is FAR greater than the chances that your child would have a life threatening reaction to the immunization process. It is far more dangerous to leave your child unimmunized than to immunize your child.

4 - if your child did contract one of these diseases (which DOES happen EVERY DAY in this country) than you would never forgive yourself.

5 - states that tend to have more liberal views on immunizations (such as Washington state and California) have seen a resurgence of many diseases that children have not gotten for YEARS because of vaccines, such as mumps, rubella, measles, and the like. Children have become permanently paralyzed, mentally retarded, and have died as a result.

6 - Your child will not be admitted to day care or school without immunizations.

7 - Studies have shown that the greatest risk with immunizations is with a component called Ethyl Mercury. This substance is not found in all immunizations. It is an additive added to some immunizations so they can be stored for a long time without refridgeration. If you are concerned the risk of immunization, ask your pediatrician to only use vaccines without Ethyl Mercury. If he doesnt have them available, you may have to call around and find a pediatrician who does.

8 - That being said, you SHOULD immunize your child. If you choose to delay immunizations, that should ONLY be done if you have NO other children in the home or in close proximity. You must NEVER allow ANYONE to put their fingers in your child's mouth or kiss your child because your child could contract an illness and die from it. Moreover, you can NEVER leave your child in a daycare setting (this includes church nurseries, nurseries at gyms, etc...) or even with a friend with other children.

As you can see, I've done alot of research on this. It is VERY important for you to do your own research before blatantly deciding to just not immunize your child. Making a hasty rash decision like that without accurate information is not excercising the due dilligence that your child deserves. If you choose not to immunize, you better know why you are choosing that - not just have your decision based on some debunked rumor. PLEASE love your child enough to know the facts before possibly putting him in danger. Good luck!

There is so much controversy over this alleged autism link. It is only supposedly linked to the 3-in-1 MMR vaccine, although the evidence is ropey and disputed.

The fact is childhood diseases are deadly, and if the vaccination levels drop to below 80% (which it is close to in many areas because of this autism scare) then the diseases can thrive.

For example, TB is now at higher levels in the UK than in many 3rd world countries. The choice is yours. If you can afford it and you are worried, find a clinic that does separate vaccinations.

It has all been investigated and no evidence was shown that MMR causes autism. I have two children, age 5 and 2 and they both had all their imms and are both perfectly healthy. They can become really ill if they don't have the immunity to protect then against viruses. You have to weigh it all up, thats what I did and I chose for them to have them. Vaccinations have been given for years, you probably even had them.

I would rather run the risk of my child having autism than the risk of losing them altogether to an illness I could have prevented. Would never forgive myself for that.

Unless your child has a reaction to the immunization you need to continue getting them to prevent your child from getting those diseases. Our school will not allow a child who has not had the chicken pox shot now. Immunizations started because of horrific death totals and spread of disease. Death is worse. Until all the diseases are obliterated in the world you must get the shots.
