You'll need contacts first of all:

Someone to make the records - record, cut and manufacture (not necessarily the same company).

Someone to distribute the records - local shops probably.

Somewhere to promote the records - as above, and also local venues where your new talent can play.

Someone to advise you on your finances. There may be regulations governing what you do (as there are in any business). It's a good idea to consult a financial expert - perhaps the bank manager will know someone. You should visit the bank anyway.

And just keep in mind the product, the promoting, and the price: all will have a part to play in how successful you are.

Good luck :o]

PS. If you're under 29, in need of financial aid and in the UK, The Princes Trust can definitely help you out.

Strongly suggest you take professional advice, an unsatisfactory business plan could kill off your business aspirations. Speak to organisations which specialise in info for SME's. If you're in the UK, give your local chamber of Commerce a ring and they will tell of local govt. funded agencies where you can get info free of charge.

Your business plan must cover, what you're selling, how are you going to sell it, how you are funding the venture, and projections on how you are going to make a profit - Watch Lions Den on BBC2, the questions they ask are the very areas you need to cover in your BP.

Make a good pitch when you go to see the bank manager - Good Luck!

Correction: that's Dragons Den - I think its on tonight.

Go to your bank and ask them for help in setting out a business plan or go to your local college and find some business students, they will love the chance to help you.
