I got an email stating that lard is the key ingredient which makes the smell lasts longer. Since there's a lot of email with junk contents nowadays, it's rather hard for me to believe if the content of this email is true or not.

It is not the "lard", but rather the oil content.
More expensive perfumes have the right oil scent balance which causes it to last longer.
Try applying moisturizer before using perfume. You'll see, it will last longer.

parfume is usually oil based and lasts longer

eau de toilette/cologne is water based and is fleeting

Parfumes are usually in smaller bottles and more expensive.

Try putting small spots of parfume on your "heartbeat" spots. One spot between your bossom, one spot on each side of your neck, then the inside of your elbows and knees. Plain waterbased eau de toilettes are best on some clothing, or on your hair.
That will last longer.
