You cannot seek political asylum as a US citizen, as you would not be a refugee. "A refugee is a person seeking asylum in a foreign country in order to escape persecution, war, terrorism, extreme poverty, famines, and natural disaster" (wikipedia). You would not fit any of these.

And for your other question, go to http://www.ukvisas.gov.uk/servlet/Front?pagename=OpenMarket/Xcelerate/ShowPage&c=Page&cid=1018721067257#Q1

I find it hard to believe that you would be classed as a refugee if you are from the US. What are you seeking asylum from (ie in what way are you being persecuted or in danger)?

Suggest you stop even thinking about abusing the system. There are genuine people out there seeking asylum and screwing the system up for them is just a selfish thing to do.

Look for a legitimate way to emigrate (ie the Highly Skille Migrant Program, work visa). If you don't qualify for any of the visas, the reality is that the UK don't want you here. Sounds harsh but think about how many people are trying to get visas for the US and don't qualify.
