I had so many childhood fantasies!!!
OMG!!! I really wanted to be a mermaid too, and I still have dreams in which I am one now! I used to tell all my friends that I was actually a mermaid, and when I swam in the sea my legs turned into a tail!!!
When I was very litte, I wanted to be a dog - a little grey scruffy mutt, named Tessie. I used to go for walks in the park with my mum, and I'd get down on all fours and start walking and barking like a dog. I also used to lie down with our (real) dog, and eat my dinner next to her. I had to stop because it worried my mum!
I still frequently tap into my inner child, especially since I have a kid myself now, it helps me to understand how his innocent little mind works.
I've posted this poem on a few of my answers, hope you like it! It sort of fits your question:
Imagine a world where mermaids can't swim,
Where unicorns are horses in disguise,
And angels do not sing,
Imagine leaving innocence behind,
Imagine life in an adutl's mind.
I wrote it one night, I was feeling nostalgic!
