I am a retail consultant...it is growing so fast it is unbelievable...

Tesco are moving heaven and earth to get over there at the moment....the cultural differences between the west and India are a massive problem though...so many different languages and diertry requirements...

In terms of clothing, the Indian middle classes have massively embrassed the branded apparel: as a status symbol they perceive (according to the research out there) western brands to signify their own success....pretty obvious really but the brands are heading out there in a big way: especially as a lot of the stuff is produced out there anyway: costs are very minimal....
