i'll be going there frm singapore....and bringing a friend along is not a possible option.....so its solo...or no trip for me!?

DUH...of course...f u mean Taxim and Istiklal St. well they're pretty crowded bt it's tottaly safe 2 tour n there

Generally yes, Istanbul is a fantastic place and the people r generally very friendly. Shop owners normally speak at least English and most speak several languages. Shopping is bit of a pain as u only have to pause for a second and they will try and physically pull u into the shop, very aggressive! The taxi drivers r ALL crooks, so find out what the fare will cost before u get in. Once the door is shut your at their mercy!

I wouldn't advise going to Istanbul alone as a girl.
people are still, say "prejudiced" about women and you might encounter things you don't like (especially if you are blond or light-skinned.
take a friend with you (or two or three) and you will be fine.

No. Like most urban areas in the world, there is a percentage of the populace that are sexual preditors. Unless you wish to risk rape and robbery, you should travel with friends.
