It's as long as you cut it. If you had been asked how long is string then you could have answered that it could be infinite in length. But since you were asked how long is a "piece" of string then you can tell that person it is only as long as the person cut it. Or you could say it is as long as it's beginning to it's end.

There is a story about Krishna how her mother wanted to bind Him to the wooden mortar with a string because he was mischievous. However, the strings she collected from the house were always too short even when binding them together.and thus she could not succeed in her attempt. This is to power of God, Krishna. By His magical potency he can make a very long string to be too short and vice versa.

slightly of string is going right into a pub an sits down. The bartender says you ought to leave we dont serve string right here. The string is going out to the line and asks a guy to tie him in a knot. the guy does it yet as he ties the knot the ends of the string grow to be frayed. The string says thats ok and walks back into the pub a sits down. The bartender says, are not you that piece of string I kicked out of right here formerly. The string says no i'm a frayed knot.

try this: take the ends of the string, and secure them together with tape, glue, or tie a small knot. form the string into a figure 8. it is now infinite
